Candy Heart Pluerry
Prunus salicina × avium 'Candy Heart'
“The sweetest of the pluerries. Needs a pollenizer. Worth it.”
Candy Heart is the sweeter, richer pluerry — deep burgundy skin, translucent red flesh, flavor more cherry than plum with extraordinary sugar content. Needs a pollenizer (any Japanese plum works — Gulf Ruby, Methley). Around 400 chill hours. Later-ripening than Sweet Treat, extending the stone fruit season deeper into summer. Zone 7–9. The people who grow this don't go back to regular plums.
