Gulf Gold Plum

Gulf Gold Plum

Prunus salicina 'Gulf Gold'

100 chill hours. Yellow-gold Japanese plum. Zone 8–10.

Gulf Gold is part of the Gulf Series developed at Mississippi State specifically for the Deep South — 100 chill hours, yellow-gold skin with yellow flesh, mild and sweet. Ripens mid-summer. One of the lowest-chill plums available. Not self-fertile — plant with Gulf Ruby or another Japanese plum for cross-pollination. The Gulf Series as a whole has been the most reliable family of low-chill plums for warm southern climates. Gulf Gold is the sweet, mild, easy-eating entry point.
