The roots alone are worth seeing — massive buttress structures radiating from the base like fins, some taller than a person. The canopy spreads 100 feet in mature specimens. Native to coastal Queensland and New South Wales. Planted widely in California and Florida, where century-old trees are now landmark specimens. Zone 9b–11. Give it space. Give it a lot of space.
