Quiver Tree
Aloidendron dichotomum
“San people made arrow quivers from the branches. It grows in the Namibian desert.”
The San (Bushmen) hollowed the soft, moisture-retaining branches to store water and make arrow quivers. The trunk and branches are smooth and silver-gray, forking in precise Y-shapes. Dense rosettes of aloe leaves top each branch. Found across the Namibian and South African desert. It looks architectural — like someone designed it on purpose. Zone 9–11. Handles near-total drought once established. Nothing else looks like it.
